From the time of Adam and Eve, jewelry has been one of the popular forms of body adornment. The oldest found jewelry, beads made from Nassarius shells, dates back 100,000 years. Pieces of jewelry are usually made from gemstones or precious metals (gold and silver), but, as in ancient times, they can be made of ceramic beads, bone, animal teeth, wood, and carved stone. Jewelry is used for adornment of practically every body part, from hair to toes.
