You’ve encountered a serious problem. That measuring tape that you have doesn’t bend very well and if it bends too much it may snap and having metal snap at you is dangerous. That and tennis bracelets have so many diamonds in them that you have to size them between the diamonds.

This is for two reasons. The first is the diamonds are hard to saw in half if you want to size your tennis bracelet at the midpoint of one of the diamonds. It would require diamond cutting equipment and is probably unnecessary. The second reason is that cutting a diamond just because you want to size a bracelet is not financially a good idea. So the measuring tape won’t work, use a string.

Wrap the string around your wrist and then cut the string and measure that with the measuring tape. As convenience would have it, strings can also straighten, so this isn’t all that hard. Once you have your trusty string all measured, go to your jeweler and give him the string and tell him you want your tennis bracelets in that size.

He won’t be disappointed, because he’ll probably charge you $20 to do it, unless you want to get it lengthened, which is a much more expensive problem because it will require you to add diamonds. The moral of the story is, if you own a tennis bracelet, don’t let your wrist grow too much or you’ll run out of money.
